Flow rate has slowed a little bit from the insane early performance, but still better than a new Sawyer. I would not hesitate to take it as my primary filter for a thru hike:Ģ00 or so miles before my LT thru and then 270 during it My main takeaway is that it's a more thoughtfully designed product than the Sawyer, but the filter isn't as bombproof as the Sawyer. I'll note that I shaked to clean maybe one every few days and backflushed less often than that (only once in my entire thru). "Copying some comments I made a few weeks ago in the weekly. Probably will be dumb and break it in the upcoming shoulder seasons. Going strong still, closer to new saywer speeds than before (still faster than one), but im still not doing a good job of taking care of it. Since my last copy, ive put an additional 400-500 miles on it. Sawyer still has the more bombproof filter element itself- obvious tradeoff being sawyer flowrate being way worse throughout the life of the filter compared to a quickdraw.Ĭopying some comments that i copied from before. TLDR quickdraw is smarter made, better product overall. Contrary to what i thought on my last comment - i was not dumb and it is still alive I have lost track of miles and number of liters at this point. Or just carry the Sawyer and don't worry about it.Ĭopying some comments that i copied several times. *This includes Giardia, Cryptosporidium, E. The Quickdraw page specifically calls out that they can filter it, if you have evidence to go against it, it's potentially worth a profitable lawsuit:Įffective: Each microfilter is individually tested to ensure it meets all EPA & NSF guidelines for the removal of 99.9999% of bacteria and 99.9% of protozoa*. General advice I've read is to contact the rangers and ask if they have issues with Cryptosporidium in the area. People who use mira drops likely aren't killing off the Cryptosporidium unless they're waiting the full 4 hours. Cryptosporidium seems to be 4-6 µm which if you got a small one or the filter wasn't perfectly up to spec, the margin of 1µm vs 2µm could be notable. The CDC page seems more concerned about Cryptosporidium rather than Giardia wrt diameter. r/Hammocks, /r/HammockCamping, and /r/ULHammocking Trail Specific Subs /r/PacificCrestTrail /r/AppalachianTrail /r/CDT /r/JMT Related Subsįor buying, selling, and trading ultralight backpacking gear.
